Wedding Recitation

Many communities in Bhutan have the tradition of appointing a village elder as an orator during a wedding ceremony. The elder would give a discourse or speech using rich and flowery language in order to tell the stories of the families and events, praise the couple and make prayers and good wishes. Such oral tradition is primarily passed down from generation to generation in oral forms and can vary from village to village.
