Oral Tradition

The oral traditions of Bhutan include the cultural creations in speech form which are passed down orally from one generation to another. It includes a wide range of oral literature including folk stories, songs, recitations, lectures, narratives, lozey, tsangmo and numerous other oral traditions. These oral compositions are transmitted in the medium of some two dozen languages in Bhutan. Today, many of the oral cultures and the linguistic media in which they are transmitted are in decline.
