Religious Event History

Bhutanese oral histories include a wide range of historical accounts and information. One of the most common historical narratives Bhutanese like to reiterate are the accounts of religious events. The memory of a past religious event is passed down orally from generation to generation as faithfully as possible. The event is often treated as reference point for how religious events or functions must be conducted today and used as a act of pride to bond in solidarity. Many people also tell or listen to accounts of religious events for a spiritual reason of finding liberation through hearing.
