Furniture Carpentry
Due to the easy availability of wood from the immediate surroundings, Bhutanese people use wood to make a range of household furnitures including cupboards, shelves, stools, tables called chodrom, small cuprests called chotsi, bed-boxes called zimdrom and wooden shrines called choesham. Although the Bhutanese do not have the culture of sitting on chairs, eating at tables or sleeping on beds, they use a number of furnitures at home. Boxes for storage and hangers for clothes are also made from wood. Wooden furnitures are often painted with colourful designs.
