Most Bhutanese who are agricultural farmers also engage in dairy farming or in rearing other kinds of livestock while some pastoralists are fully engaged in diary farming with highland or lowland cattle. The traditional Bhutanese have a very intimate knowledge of animal husbandry and animal pedigree and live closely with their farm animals. Most elder Bhutanese practise sophisticated systems of of animal breeding, animal care and fodder and pasture management. The Bhutanese use a variety of dairy farming tools, follow different butter and cheese making procedures and make diverse use of animal products.
