David Snellgrove notes that the Bönpos do not make reference to the Kriyā or Caryā Tantras. He offers a two-part explanation: (i) they were not categorized as tantras until Yoga Tantras became generally known from the eighth century onwards and (ii) they were then already surpassed in useful content with the result that the Bönpos took no account of them.
