Bamboo Spear Throwing

Bhutanese farmers in the past made use of natural resources to make tools for sports. During holidays, people often played games which did not require much preparation. One such simple game was using tall bamboos as spears and throwing them at a target like a javlin. Cowherders often played soksom or jyidum games as they had plenty of raw materials to easily prepare for this type of games. The players would form two teams and throw two such spears each person at a target set about 20 yards. They score points by either hitting the target or having the spear stuck in close proximity of the target.
