10 Billion Accomplishment

The dungdrup ceremony involves the recitation of a specific mantra, such as oṃ maṇi padme huṃ or Guru Rinpoche's mantra, one-hundred million times in order to invoke the blessings of the deity and mantra. The ceremonies normally take place in large groups of lamas, monks, and older citizens who chant the mantra, with each individual submitting their daily recitation totals. The target is to reach one-hundred million recitations as quickly as possible. Such ceremonies are sponsored by individual and families and are frequently conducted in Bhutan.
