Invocation of Terdag

Bhutanese have strong belief in the existence of a wide range of non-human deities and spirits in the world. The Bhutanese world view has their habitat teeming with non-human spirits, some of whom grants boons while others causes a lot of harm to the human population in the form of illnesses, accidents and misfortunes. As these spirits have a big role to play in human wellbeing, a harmonious relationship with the non-human denizens of the world is considered very important. The terdag spirits are territorial deities in possess of treasure in the earth. They are worshiped particularly for extracting something from the land, through male mediums of the same name.
