The Echo Question ཨས་

When someone hasn’t heard what the speaker has said, or wishes to make him repeat it, he can use the particle ཨས་, which raises a question about the preceding word. In a similar situation English would use interrogative pronouns.

  • སྦྲ་གུར་ནང་ལ་ཨས། “In the tent?” ཡིན་དགོས་བྱུང་། “Sure!”
  • ཞལ་པར་སླེབས་སོང་། ཕེབས་རོགས་གནང་། “There’s a phone call, come!” སུ། ང་ཨས། “Who? Me?”
