Word-by-word Commentary
The difference between “syllable-by-syllable commentaries” (’bru ’grel) and “word-by-word commentaries” (tshig ’grel) is that the former follows the syllabic order and goes word by word, whereas the latter may include summaries of entire phrases without commenting syllable by syllable.
