Regional House

Large monasteries organized along the lines of the three great Gelukpa seats (gdan sa gsum) are divided into colleges (grwa tshang). These colleges are then divided into regional houses, which are organized chiefly along geographical lines, and monks from different regions of the country usually entered the house that corresponded to their specific region. Regional houses are further subdivided into subunits called mitsen (mi tshan).
