Subdural space

The subdural space is a potential space located between the arachnoid and dura. The space is “potential” because it can be opened up due to trauma, pathologic processes, or absence of cerebrospinal fluid. It could also be caused by trauma, such as a subdural hematoma. Normally, the dura and arachnoid mater are tightly linked by tight junctions.
