Optic (II)

The optic nerve carries the visual information from the eye to the lateral geniculate nucleus of the thalamus. The neurons from the lateral geniculate nucleus project to the visual cortex. Optic nerve damage leads to visual loss due to lack of input from the ipsilateral eye and therefore monocular blindness.
