Courtier Dance

The courtier dance refers to the set of cham dances which were included in the programme of the state festivals in the 20th century. Because they were newly introduced from other parts of Bhutan, the courtiers were trained to perform the dance thereby contribute to enriching the festival programme and share the burden of putting on the show with the monks. The courtier dances often include the dances for which full costumes of silk brocade are not needed.
