Casting

Most large bronze statues in Bhutan were made through the technique of lost wax and sand casting. These statues and other religious objects made through casting are some of the oldest religious antiques one can find in the country. Although casting was not a widespread art in Bhutan, one can find samples of cast bronze and other metal statues and artefacts across the country in temples and family homes and the art has certainly known in Bhutan by the 15th century. Today, artists produce various artefacts using both techniques of lost wax and sand casting.
