Stone-Paved Anterior Courtyard

A large courtyard, located in front of the assembly halls and major temples of large monastic compounds such as Sera (se ra) and Drepung ('bras spungs), that was paved in stone. When the seating capacity of the assembly hall or temple was exceeded, monks would sit here. This is also the place were monks would gather and wait until summoned to enter the assembly hall.
