Most Bhutanese families would host many social events in year related to annual rituals, house construction, transhumance practice, illness or death. The events bring together people in celebration or comiseration and help strengthen the community bonds as well as share the economic burden. During these events, a lot of food and drinks are served and participants often make contribution to the food in either raw materials or ready dishes.
