Ritual

The tantric form of Buddhism, which is widespread in Bhutan and also acclaimed to be the state religious system, includes an extensive range of religious services which are performed with intense visualizations, symbolic gestures, chanting of mantras and recitations of texts. The services are often accompanied by monastic music played with traditional instruments. The rituals range from general meditation practices for the transformation of the individual's mind into an enlightenment to specific services conducted for a particular purposes such as elongating life, appeasing a deity, exorcising the evil or averting black magical threat. The rituals also range from ones which last for weeks to short ones finished in few minutes.
